Realized a personal dream this weekend - completed the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

My journey to the finish line has not been a straight path, but I have held on to the dream.

I am - and will not be - the fastest triathlete, but I have still been able to find a way.

As the founders of Ironman have so beautifully formulated, it should be possible for both the fast athletes, but also the persistent and not so fast - to get to Hawaii.

I belong to the latter group.

There are a few lessons that I personally take with me, and that I think are also relevant, whether you work in a start-up or a larger organization.

1. Dream big - it is often ourselves who set limits to what we think is possible.

2. Think long-term - we often overestimate what we can achieve in the short term, but underestimate what we can achieve in the long term.

3. Be flexible - it is rare that our plans run smoothly - so be flexible and be ready to take a detour to the same goal.

4. Surround yourself with good people - find the people who can help you on your way, believe in you - and who have been where you want to go. I have had the pleasure of good coaches, trainers, club mates and of course friends and family.

5. Believe in yourself - we have one life - we all have dreams and ambitions - and if we really believe in it, then it will happen.

“Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right”, (Henry Ford).

Unplugging and recharging the batteries, and looking forward to new exciting conversations and tasks in the new year!

Onwards towards new dreams 🧨🚀
